COVID-19 : Coronavirus | New measures in Madrid from Thursday, February 18: curfew, closing time of the hotel business …

The Community of Madrid has confirmed the delay in the beginning of the curfew and the variation in the closing time of the hotel business from 00:00 hours on February 18, as advanced last Friday in a press conference by the Deputy Minister of Public Health, Antonio Zapatero.

This relaxation of the measures was already included in the Official Gazette of the Community of Madrid, although its application depended, as reported in the appearance, on a supposed improvement in the epidemiological situation which, in the opinion of the Ministry of Health, has occurred. The Community of Madrid notified on February 12, the date of Zapatero’s statements, a cumulative incidence in 14 days of 711.78 cases, while today’s data is already less than 500 cases, with 489.87 infections for each 100,000 people.

Therefore, from 00:00 hours on February 18, the curfew will be extended in the Community of Madrid between 11:00 p.m. and 06:00 a.m. In addition, the hotel establishments may remain open until 11:00 p.m., although they will not be able to admit new clients from an hour before. The maximum number of people per table will be 6 people and everyone will have to wear a mask except when they are going to eat or drink.

Outside of these restrictions are establishments that provide basic services, such as medical centers, pharmacies, veterinarians and gas stations, among others.

“Epidemiological data show a downward curve in terms of infections and accumulated incidence, which makes it possible to make some measures more flexible while maintaining others to consolidate this decline”, includes Decree 7/2021, of February 12, by which the relaxation of restrictions was communicated.

Meetings of non-cohabitating people are prohibited

The Community of Madrid has extended until March 1 the prohibition of meetings in private spaces between people who do not live together. However, they are contemplated exceptions such as the formation of extended coexistence units, the care of dependents, the meetings of minors with their parents and meetings between couples, among others.
