Ecuador lifted any vehicle restrictions during the Carnival holiday that was celebrated last weekend. However, today, February 17, a new mobility scheme has come into force in Quito. The capital reimposes the Hoy no Circula plan, which was already in force during the months of health emergency.
The capital has undergone different circulation schemes to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. After the end of the state of emergency, Quito implemented the Hoy Circula plan, which consisted of circulating according to the odd or even number. This plan will not go into effect on weekends and holidays.
This system was modified a few days ago because the same method that was implemented after the state of emergency will not be followed. Now, the plan will regulate the circulation depending on the last digit of the registration. The plan will only apply between 06:00 and 20:00 from Monday to Friday; that is to say, outside these hours all cars will be able to circulate.
Vehicles with license plates ending in 4, 5, 6 and 7 cannot be circulated this Wednesday; others can drive freely. On Thursday 18, registration plates 6, 7, 8 and 9 will not be able to circulate; on Friday 19, the plates ending in 8, 9, 0 and 1. During the weekend there will be free movement.
