(CNN Spanish) – The Bolivian National Health Council (Conasa) determined to enter a national strike from this Friday until February 28 to demand the repeal of the Sanitary Emergency Law, promulgated on Wednesday by President Luis Arce.

The measure will be fulfilled amid the coronavirus pandemic, but will not suspend care in emergency services across the country and care for covid-19 patients, according to doctors.

The health union considers that the emergency law should be repealed as it is unconstitutional and restricts the right to protest.

For his part, the Minister of Health and Sports, Jeyson Auza Pinto, urged doctors this Thursday not to enter into a work stoppage and invited them to be part of the regulation of the law promulgated by the president, to treat the observations to the standard and that these can be incorporated.

Until this Thursday, Bolivia registers 239,524 confirmed cases of covid-19 and 11,353 deaths from the disease.
