Coronavirus.- Russia touches its historical record of daily cases with 24,581 new infections


The new coronavirus pandemic that originated in the Chinese city of Wuhan has left 24,581 cases in Russia in the last 24 hours (very close to the 24,822 cases on Saturday, a record) and 401 deaths, which represents a new record in the daily balance of infections, according to data published this Sunday by the Russian center responsible for the fight against the virus.

“In the last 24 hours in Russia, 24,581 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the 85 regions, including 5,764 asymptomatic,” said the agency, in a statement collected by the Russian news agency Sputnik.

With the new data, the balance of the pandemic in Russian territory this Friday amounts to 2,089,329 infected people, representing an increase of 1.2 percent compared to the previous day, and 36,179 fatalities.

Most of the new infections have been detected in Moscow, which also breaks a record by registering 6,575 positives in 24 hours, in addition to the 949 infections detected in the region of the Russian capital.

In terms of recoveries, more than 1.59 million people in Russia have managed to overcome COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by the coronavirus, including 18,008 who have been discharged in the last 24 hours.
