Coronavirus | Masks of the CSIC and Bionicia: prices, characteristics, what type they are and how to buy online

There are many masks on the market. Circumstances oblige and the new normal requires the use of this element of protection. Several institutions and clothing brands that have launched their designs, but now it has been their own Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) which has developed a new material for mask filters based on nanofibers called PROVEIL.

This new filter material is used in both the FFP1, FFP2 and FFP3 masks and in surgical ones. Thus, they offer Biodegradable, washable masks, with a filtration capacity 10 times greater than normal materials, certified and that can be used for several days. It has certification of EU type exam no. 0370-4080-PPE / B for protection against COVID-19 and also meets the requirements of the UNE-EN 149: 2001 + A1: 2009 standard in relation to the evaluation of self-filtering half masks.

FFP2 type masks

The CSIC masks that use this material are made of type FFP2 and therefore can be Used both by the general population and by health professionals and personnel of the State security forces and bodies. In this case, yes, the CSIC explains that the recommendation is that they be used only once and not several times, as citizens can do. It also has an average filtration efficiency of 96.4%.

How to buy them?

These masks can be purchased through the Bionicia SL website. There are three products for sale. A pack of 50 units for a total of 125 euros (2.50 euros each mask); a pack of 25 masks at a price of 62.50 (also 2.50 each). Finally, Bionicia offers Masks for children in a pack of 50 units at a price of 30 euros (€ 0.60 each mask).

These prices will have to be added the corresponding shipping costs, which the store advises that they will be free if the customer makes a purchase of more than 250 euros.
