CDMX and the State of Mexico agree to a dry law on weekends

This Thursday it was announced that some municipalities of the CDMX as well as municipalities of the State of Mexico reached an agreement to prohibit the sale of alcohol from this weekend to control the spread of Covid-19 infections. Oxxo and little shops will suffer it.

This measure was taken jointly by the authorities of the Valley of Mexico, in order to stop contagion, mainly in the eastern area, which is where more cases and deaths have been registered throughout the pandemic.

This measure will apply on weekends starting this Friday. The objective is to prevent more parties from being registered in the localities involved.

The head of government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, reported that in the case of CDMX, eight of the 16 mayors decided to declare “dry law” for the weekends.

Until now, the mayoralties considered in this program are: Cuajimalpa, Cuauhtémoc, Xochimilco, Venustiano Carranza, Iztacalco and Iztapalapa.

In the case of Mexico City, the measure will begin to be effective as of this Friday, while in the case of the State of Mexico, the prohibition of alcohol will be given as of Saturday.
