Days before the Latin Grammy takes place, the singer Carlos Rivera has canceled his participation in the awards that will be held this November 19 in Miami, this because a person close to his team tested positive for Covid-19.
“How about my people, here Carlos Rivera with news that fills me with sadness! Unfortunately yesterday a person very close to my team tested positive for Covid and as you know we have tried to be as responsible as possible. Since this pandemic began, I was the first artist in Mexico to cancel a concert to take care of all the people and the people who follow me… ”, the singer commented on his social networks.
The singer, who was already doing rehearsals with Yalitza Aparicio and Ana Brenda to lead the 21st edition of the awards that celebrate the best of Latin music, had expressed in a talk with EL UNIVERSAL, even without knowing the news of his partner , his excitement for representing Mexico at the ceremony.
“I am very excited. Yalitza has become a pioneer of many things, she is an activist, she can be called that for everything she does to make visible and beyond everything and where we each come from, we celebrate the music that comes to humanize us. In fact, that’s the slogan of the awards this year, ‘Music humanizes us,’ “he said.
Despite the fact that the interpreter of “Remember me” gave negative, he pointed out that the most prudent thing to do, abiding by health regulations, was to cancel his participation and give up his place to Víctor Manuelle.
“On this occasion, even though I tested negative, I cannot put anyone at risk, especially my colleagues Ana Brenda and Yalitza and the entire team that surrounds us, production, musicians. In my case I was also going to sing with Natalia Jiménez, my partner; It makes me very sad that I can’t be there, but the most important thing at this time is to take care of ourselves, not only to take care of ourselves, but to take care of others and in an act of responsibility I cannot be there and I must follow the protocols that are required for this ” , he pointed.
“I wish all the best to my dear Víctor Manuelle, who is the one who will stay in my place. I am sure that he will do a spectacular job, so congratulations to him, and above all a hug to the three of them, I wish you all the best that it is a great gala, there I will be seeing you and applauding … “, he said.
The cancellation of Carlos Rivera is not the first change that the event undergoes. Roselyn Sánchez, who would host the gala, shared at the beginning of November that she would not participate due to having suffered an accident where she fractured her foot.
“I am here to announce that unfortunately I will not be able to conduct the Latin Grammys as scheduled … Unfortunately I suffered a fall at home, I fractured a metatarsal bone so they changed all the plans.”
