In a Nintendo Direct this year it was revealed that Monster Hunter Stories will have a sequel coming to Nintendo Switch. Many wondered if this means that the first installment will have a port for the hybrid console, but you should not expect that to happen.

Gamereactor recently caught up with Ryozo Tsujimoto, producer of several Monster Hunter installments. There they asked him about the possibility of seeing Monster Hunter Stories on Nintendo Switch and his answer was not at all encouraging.

“At the moment there are no plans to bring the original Monster Hunter Stories to Nintendo Switch,” were Tsujimoto’s words.

You can enjoy the sequel without playing Monster Hunter Stories

Now if you didn’t own a Nintendo 3DS, this is likely to worry you. After all, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is on its way to Nintendo Switch and you surely want to play its first part before launching it.

Luckily, you don’t need to have played Monster Hunter Stories to enjoy Wings of Ruin, or at least that’s what Tsujimoto says.

“There is a completely new protagonist and a new story. Although it takes place in the same world, the game was designed so that players can make the direct jump to Monster Hunter Stories 2, “he explained.
