In the third great fight of the night, the American of Cuban origin Rolando “Rolly” Romero retained his interim belt from the World Boxing Association (WBA), after beating the American in the seventh round Avery Sparrow.
Romero sent Sparrow to the ground in the first round and from that moment on he showed his authority dominating his rival round after round, despite numerous irregularities that at times unhinged Romero.
Given the clear superiority of Romero and the great punishment that Sparrow was receiving, the latter’s corner stopped the fight in the seventh round.

“I fought a dirty fighter. He hit me with a dozen, if not more, low blows, behind the head, trying to fight, but it is what it is. I got the victory. I dropped him with that hook in the first round. I thought it would all end, but he’s skilled, he knows how to survive, “said Romero.
