“Bottas made a big mistake and it ruined our race”

The sudden presence of rain shortly before the start of the race changed all the plans envisaged at the circuit of Hungaroring and it led all the drivers to start on intermediate tires.

Under this condition, bottas had a poor start from second place and fell in order before failing braking at turn one, locking his tires and hitting from behind into the McLaren of Lando Norris.

The Briton went to stop against the car of Verstappen as a consequence and Bottas ended up strongly impacting Pérez.

The Guadalajara driver had to withdraw from the race due to the damage received in his RB16B and then showed his anger against the Mercedes.

“Unbelievable, it’s a shame,” he said. Pérez and Ziggo Sport de Holanda.

Also read:

“I was already in third position. I braked more than the McLaren and thought I was way ahead and unfortunately Bottas made a big mistake and ruined the race for us. I don’t know what else to say. It’s all over. The engine is over. it is damaged, it reached the radiator, “he added.

“Checo” then expanded his feelings a bit more by saying: “There was nothing I could do there and it is a great shame for the team. I had advanced to third place, it could have been a great day for us and things changed dramatically. soon”.

“It’s a shame because I think we had a great opportunity under those conditions,” he insisted.

Norris, who also had to drop out, joined Perez’s comments by sharing his anger at what happened early in the race.

“I don’t have much to say,” Norris told Britain’s Sky Sports after the Bottas collision.

“I’m just pissed off I guess. The first round, I don’t know why that has to happen, why risk doing that kind of stupid thing. But I can’t do anything. There’s not much to do.”

Norris added that he expected the stewards to use “common sense” about what to do, noting that he had previously been penalized for “doing nothing wrong at other circuits.”
