Benedict Cumberbatch prepares his return to television. Three years after ‘Patrick Melrose’, the Brit will return to the small screen with an Anonymous Content miniseries that will adapt « The 39 Steps », John Buchan’s novel popularized by Alfred Hithcock’s 1935 film adaptation.

The new version, which has no string yet, is described as « un action-packed conspiracy thriller that will bring the classic novel up to date « . It will focus on Richard Hannay, a normal man who unwittingly becomes a pawn of a global conspiracy that seeks to restore world order. 39 steps that will change the world as we know it if Hannay can’t stop it.
Mark L. Smith, screenwriter of the films « The reborn » Y « Midnight sky », will be in charge of writing the fiction, which will be directed by Edward berger, director and executive producer of ‘Your Honor’ from Showtime. The latter will meet with Cumberbatch after coinciding in ‘Patrick Melrose’, of which he directed its five episodes.
Cumberbatch, who won an Emmy for portraying the iconic detective Sherlock Holmes in ‘Sherlock’, will soon reprise his role as Stephen Strange, the Supreme Sorcerer, in the sequel to « Doctor Strange », which will be titled « Doctor Strange 2: The Multiverse of Madness » and is expected to premiere in March 2022.

This miniseries is the result of the association between Anonymous Content and the British Chapter One Pictures, which is currently in pre-production ‘Best Interests’, a drama series written by Jack thorne (‘Dark matter’).
