BBVA does not give details about its merger with Sabadell

The head of BBVA in Spain, Peio Belausteguigoitia, has avoided talking about the potential merger operation of the entity with Banco Sabadell and has also referred to what was communicated yesterday to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV).

“As you will understand, I stick to what was said yesterday in the relevant event to the CNMV, which is basically that the board has approved the holding of talks for a potential operation, although to date there is no decision taken,” he said Belausteguigoitia during his speech at the XXVII Meeting of the Financial Sector organized by Deloitte, ABC and Sociedad de Valuation.

At the same event, the CEO of Banco Sabadell, Jaume Guardiola, indicated that in the coming weeks there may be news about the outcome of the conversations with BBVA for a possible merger, without there being any decision on the matter yet. has for the moment referred to what was communicated to the CNMV on Monday afternoon.
