The Bank of Mexico put into circulation as of today the new thousand peso bill, which will be available through the banking system. This banknote has some improvements in its safety, durability and functionality features, as well as graphic motifs that represent the historical identity and natural heritage of our country.
One of the characteristics of this new banknote is that it has reinforced security measures, which makes it more difficult to counterfeit and makes it easier for people to authenticate it, including people who are blind and visually impaired.
Its design refers to thematic motifs that allude to one of the historical processes that have defined us as a nation, that of the Revolution, and to the ecosystem of humid forests with their representative fauna and flora, through a site recognized in the list of the « World Heritage » of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
This new banknote is made with the latest generation materials, which will make its useful life longer, it is gray and the substrate on which it is printed is cotton. The note measures 153 mm long x 65 mm high.

Obverse It alludes to the Mexican Revolution, with the portraits of Francisco I. Madero, Hermila Galindo and Carmen Serdán, three relevant figures from this historical period. The cartoon corresponds to a locomotive, which was the main means of transportation for the revolutionary troops during the armed struggle. Descriptive certificate “President Francisco I. In the upper right part is the multicolored denomination that changes in hue from magenta to green depending on the visual angle, with 1000 numbers inside. In the upper central area, the Banco de México monogram is shown and on its right, the text “BANCO DE MÉXICO”, both sensitive to the touch.
