Bankia and Fundación Ávila have supported two environmental projects in Ávila with 20,000 euros.
The Oxygen Foundation and Pronisa have been selected in the ‘I Call for the Environment and Sustainable Development’.
The bank has reported that the objective of this initiative is to support environmental projects committed to sustainable development and nature conservation in the area.
The call is aimed at supporting projects that promote the conservation, restoration and sustainable use of terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems; that help reduce and recycle waste, especially plastics; and that promote technological innovation aimed at reducing or avoiding environmental damage.
On the other hand, Bankia and Fundación Ávila have positively assessed the impact on reducing the carbon footprint.
Each entity has received 10,000 euros so that they can start environmental conservation work.
The Oxygen Foundation is responsible for developing actions that allow reducing the generation and consumption of plastics, promoting the circular economy in the rivers and banks of the province of Ávila thanks to public awareness and participation.
Pronisa promotes awareness about the abandonment of waste in nature and actions for the removal of these together with people with disabilities. It will also create a space for recycling plastics for its transformation and subsequent marketing to encourage the creation of jobs.
María Dolores Ruiz-Ayúcar, the president of Fundación Ávila, commented that “the natural environment is one of the main resources and attractions of the province of Ávila and as people from Avila it is our responsibility to ensure its sustainability and support the initiatives that are aimed at its conservation and improvement ”.
While Lola Peñas, the corporate director of the Bankia Territorial in Castilla y León, stressed that “at Bankia we have a clear commitment to the environment and, therefore, we are proud to be able to support associations from Avila that work with a green perspective and that have the objective of building a more just and sustainable society ”.
The applications have been evaluated by a jury made up of representatives of the Ávila Foundation, Bankia and a specialized technical advisory.
