Bankia and Fundació Iluro have supported with 20,000 euros to two environmental projects in the Maresme region committed to sustainable development and nature conservation.
The Emys Foundation and the Posidonia 2021 Association have been selected in the ‘I Call for the Environment and Sustainable Development’.
The bank has reported that the objective of this initiative is to support projects that promote the conservation, restoration and sustainable use of terrestrial, marine and freshwater ecosystems; that help reduce and recycle waste, especially plastics; and that promote technological innovation aimed at reducing or avoiding environmental damage.
Among other aspects, the impact on reducing the carbon footprint has also been positively assessed.
On the other hand, Bankia and Fundació Iluro have positively assessed the impact on reducing the carbon footprint.
Each program has received 10,000 euros to obtain a significant ecological improvement of the Molí de la Sal plot, with the eradication and replacement of the American cane with native vegetation, which will be developed by the Emys Foundation, and a study of the fish communities in the Posidonia meadow in Mataró with the aim of diagnosing the global health of the ecosystem to adopt conservation and recovery measures promoted by the Associació Posidonia 2021.
Miguel Capdevila, the corporate director of the Bankia Territorial in Catalonia, explained that “at Bankia we are committed to building a fairer and more sustainable society and, therefore, we are proud to be able to support associations that promote research , dissemination and awareness with the environment in general and with the Maresme region and its surroundings in particular ”.
The applications have been evaluated by a jury made up of representatives of Fundació Iluro, Bankia and a specialized technical advisory.
