The token of the video game company Atari is already being traded on the exchanges Changelly and HitBTC. Traders can identify the ERC20 token, on the Ethereum network, with the ATRI ticker which shows a price of $ 0.08 per unit.

According to the market information service Coingecko, the token shows a market capitalization of five million dollars. The volume is partly due to the token being launched in October on the exchange.

Atari’s intention with the token is to create a entertainment ecosystem around your crypto asset project which includes: being a means of payment, an exchange, casino and gambling site. However, the company’s aspirations go further.

“Although a key use of the Atari token will be as a payment tool within our ecosystem, our goal has never been to limit its use to our own platform. We have already identified several categories in the current market that can benefit from the token, recently we have signed many partnership agreements to expand its adoption, ”said Frédéric Chesnais, CEO of Atari.

Changelly is a platform that serves more than 2 million users who have the possibility to exchange between more than 140 cryptocurrencies. It is a service in which Changelly compares the different rates of exchanges such as Bittrex, Poloniex or Binance and chooses the most convenient for the user to carry out their operation.

Meanwhile, HitBTC offers traders more than 800 pairs for trading. With offices in London, Malta, Rio de Janeiro, Santiago, Hong Kong, Beijing and Singapore, the exchange has been operating since 2013.

Atari token: for players, developers and traders

The token is about 20 days old and was launched with a tentative price of 0.25 cents. However, during March, April and then in September, pre-sales were made for a price between USD 0.08 and USD 0.16.

Currently players can use the token to buy avatars, accessories and participate in games or tournaments. On the business side, the token could be used for smart contract transaction scheduling, blockchain-based game development, and payment systems.

It should be mentioned that the operators who wish to acquire the token, in one of the available exchanges, must comply with KYC / AML procedures to know the identity of the users and counteract terrorist financing.

Atari Chain, a subsidiary of Atari SA, is the company behind the development of the token that will have a total issuance of 7,771 million units. The current currency of the cryptoasset is around 70 million tokens.

The company announced in February 2018 that it would launch its own token. CriptoNoticias reported at the time that Atari would bet on the development of a new entertainment service based on the so-called distributed ledger technology (DLT).

Should the project consolidate, Atari claimed that it would also try its luck in the world of decentralized finance (DeFi). The idea of the company is to also get involved in new financing methods for video game development.
