After the music streaming war comes the fight for podcasts: Amazon has decided to follow in the lead of Spotify and has included these podcasts in its music service. Accessible from the web, in mobile apps and with devices that include Alexa. Of course, at the moment in Spain they are not available.

Gone are the times when a specific podcast application was needed to play this multimedia content: now we can listen to them even after doing a Google search. Spotify is promoting podcasts within its catalog, for example, its competition Deezer also has a wide selection of them. And Amazon music is the following: the company has announced the premiere of podcasts on its music platform. Available to free and ‘premium’ users, although at the moment with geographic limitation.

Over 70,000 podcasts now available on Amazon Music

Podcasts are not yet available on Amazon Music Spain, but the access menus already anticipate the incorporation

Amazon Music already had a large musical catalog accessible to users with unlimited subscription (Unlimited), for those who have Amazon Prime and even for free users, a movement that pointed directly to Spotify. And the introduction of podcasts makes both streaming platforms a little more equal: Amazon Music has a selection of podcasts that exceeds 70,000 shows. Yes, for now only available in the United States, United Kingdom, Japan and Germany. For the rest of the countries we will have to wait.

Amazon today announced the news by also offering access to the new section of the platform: those who are in one of the four launch countries can listen to the podcasts through this link, also in the respective mobile applications. And Alexa devices also expand compatibility by keeping the play point for users to don’t have to start all over when switching devices.

Amazon Music has incorporated a large catalog of podcasts, some of great caliber. And you’ll create your own channels with the help of familiar faces like DJ Khaled, Becky G, Will Smith or Dan Patrick. The idea is to offer a centralized way of listening to any type of audio, be it music or podcast programs. And without the service involving a cost for the user: neither subscribers should pay more nor would free users be limited to listening. To make the service profitable, Amazon plans to sell ads on its exclusive podcasts.

The podcasts are already available on Amazon Music, for now for the four countries mentioned above. Also, any podcast creator can now add theirs to Amazon: just go to this link.
