ASUS Chromebox 4, a mini-PC under Chrome OS

Chromebooks are the most popular PCs on the Chrome OS platform. But they are not the only ones available with the Google system and mini-PCs are another segment that may be of interest for various use cases, consumer desks, offices, education or living rooms for home theater.

The new ASUS Chromebox 4 is a good sample. It mounts tenth generation Intel “Comet Lake” processors, with the option of equipping from a modest Celeron to a Core i7-10510U that allows many possibilities with 4 cores and 8 threads of native processing, frequencies up to 4.9 GHz and 8 Mbytes of cache.

It can equip up to 16 Gbytes of DDR4 RAM and up to 256 Gbytes for internal storage with M.2 SATA. It supports the latest standard in Wi-Fi 6 wireless connectivity that complements the Gigabit LAN. It has a variety of USB 3.2 Gen2 and USB 2.0 ports.

The dual HDMI output and included USB Type-C give this mini-PC the ability to output content up to three displays with 4K resolution. Support for USB Power Delivery enables charging of a connected smartphone or other accessory and can also be powered by a compatible display or other device. This eliminates the need for a separate power adapter and makes it easy to maintain a tidy workspace.

The ASUS Chromebox 4 will be available in December with a base configuration price of $ 289. Content for this type of compact equipment, complete connectivity and well built as is usually the norm of the Taiwanese manufacturer.
