BUENOS AIRES, Jul 30 (.) – Argentina will start negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to agree on a new program for the country beyond the result of the current negotiation to restructure its external debt, the economy minister said on Thursday, Martín Guzmán.

With a few days before the deadline to reach an agreement with its private creditors, on August 4, the government is evaluating whether to extend the date, Guzmán explained in a videoconference with the Washington-based organization Atlantic Council.

Argentina must reach an early agreement with creditors to restructure $ 65 billion in bonds, but the deal must be « sustainable, » according to the official.
