Arbitrators want an investigation against Clément Grenier

The French Football Ethics Council was seized for the controversial comments made by Clément Grenier.

The comments made by Clement Grenier risk triggering a “Grenier affair”. Sunday evening, the midfielder of Rennais Stadium had trouble accepting the defeat conceded at home to Lille (0-1), on the occasion of the 21st day of Ligue 1.

The words uttered against referee Eric Wattellier provoked the official reaction of the game director’s colleagues, via the Union of Elite Football Referees (SAFE). For the organization, Grenier’s interview questioned Wattellier’s “ethics and integrity”.

“The SAFE strongly condemns these remarks and asked that the National Council of Ethics of the French Football Federation take up this issue, so that these slanderous statements do not remain without follow-up”, we can read Tuesday evening in a Union press release.

“He speaks badly,” said the Rennes player about the referee. He tells me throughout the match that he will referee against us. The Union asks that the recordings of the exchanges be made available to the FFF and the LFP in order to prove the unfounded nature of the “accusations” of Clément Grenier.
