The Leonese has achieved a full of victories in his debut in single-seaters

The Argentine Franco Colapinto, seventh, continues in the fight for the championship

David Vidales has sealed an almost perfect weekend in his debut in single-seaters. The Leonese driver has achieved a full victory in the two races that Formula Renault Eurocup has played in Imola and he can already dream of the title.

After surprising his own and strangers yesterday with Pole, victory and fast lap, this morning the suit was put on again to continue the trend. ‘Only’ could have been second in the standings, but he was willing to give it his all this afternoon.

And in the first meters, ax! Vidales made a spectacular start to snatch the first position from his teammate William Alatalo before arriving at the braking of the first corner.

Behind, Alex Quinn has ‘stolen’ third position from Caio Collet and Victor Martins has kept Franco Colapinto at bay. The Argentine would lose sixth place to Paul Aron in the second round.

William Alatalo has not detached himself from David Vidales in the first laps, although the Leon did not give his arm to twist. Just seven minutes into the race the first safety car arrived due to an incident involving Petr Ptacek.

In the relaunch, David has managed to jerk at the right moment to open a gap large enough to reach the Tamburello chicane in a comfortable position, with Alatalo and Quinn in his wake.

From there, thanks to his brilliant pace, Vidales has traced yesterday’s strategy and little by little has managed to distance himself from his teammate. Three laps later, the Finn was already more than a second away.

The ‘spicy’ of the race was in the chasing group. Victor Martins took advantage to overtake Caio Collet and place in fourth position, while Paul Aron and Franco Colapinto lurked wanting to get a slice of the situation.

Meanwhile, Vidales was doing his thing. With a free track, the Spanish pilot has increased the advantage over his rivals to almost two seconds and in the final minutes he has begun to manage the rental.

Ultimately, David sealed the second consecutive victory of the weekend – in two races contested – to show the world his immeasurable talent with an impressive debut in single-seater racing.

“Yes, a fantastic result. Very happy with the race, the pace was fantastic. After the safety car we managed to open a gap, so everything went very well today. The car was fantastic. Thank you very much to the team for all the work they’ve done. Now it’s time to keep learning and keep pushing, “said Vidales after the race.

William Alatalo, more than two seconds behind Vidales under the checkered flag, has completed the JD Motorsport double; the last step of the podium was for an Alex Quinn who had to sweat until the end before the attacks of Victor Martins – fourth -.

Caio Collet, the championship leader, had to settle for fifth place this time, while Paul Aron curdled a good performance in sixth place. Argentine Franco Colapinto, seventh to continue in the title fight.
