Anne Hathaway confessed that since she began her professional career she has lived with an annoyance that no one suspected, because she does not like her name.
During her participation in the program ‘Jimmy Fallon, The Tonight Show’, the protagonist of the film ‘The devil wears fashion’ revealed some details of this painful situation.
It all started when the presenter hesitated about the way to greet her and questioned her about how she wanted him to refer to her, if as Anne or Annie, instant in which the actress said:
“Call me Annie. Everyone, call me Annie, please. Can we talk about my name for a second?… When I was 14 I made an announcement and had to get my actors union card. My name is Anne Hathaway, so it seemed like the right choice, but it never occurred to me that for the rest of my life people would call me Anne. “
Although there didn’t seem to be a big problem with her first name at this point, Hathaway added: “The only person who calls me Anne is my mom and she only does it when she’s mad at me. Very angry. So every time I do something in public and someone calls my name, I think they are going to yell at me. People say to me: ‘Anne!’ And I’m like ‘What? What did I do?’ ”, He explained.
Finally, the Hollywood star stressed that in her projects she is also responsible for letting everyone know what they should call her.
“No one is comfortable calling me Anne. Does not fit. I’m Annie, in my projects they call me Miss H or Hath, so whatever you prefer. Tell me what it is, except Anne, “he concluded.
