FIn the face of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, which began in the country with a quarantine on March 19, Dominican television faced the challenge of continuing to produce programs with attractive, informative and entertaining content at the same time, with the drawback for producers and talents facing an unknown and contagious disease. So continuing with the live work was a challenge for many spaces, which also had totally limited staff to work with.

Many assumed the challenge of continuing to produce live, with due protection and distancing, such as the program “De Extremo a Extremo” (Digital 15), which continued on the air from the studios of the Telemicro Media Group.

Likewise, “El Show del Mediodía” (Color Vision) has remained firm with Iván Ruiz at the helm, although some of its drivers were forced to maintain a period of quarantine due to the contagion of Dr. Antonio Cruz Jiminián.

“Tonight Mariasela” (Color Vision) opted for Zoom, the video conferencing platform, and working from home with generally informative interviews on the situation.

The television production company “El Garaje Producciones”, led by the husbands Charles San Miguel and Vivían Futule and who work on the contents of the programs “Con Jatnna”, “Tiempo Solidario”, “Pamela Todo Un Show”, “Conectando” and “ It’s Early Still with Jochy ”, during the first two weeks they chose to repeat programs, but then decided to return to work from home through Zoom. “Que Chévere Nights” and “Que Chévere es Saber” (Telesystem), by Milagros Germán, also continued to bring content from their residences.

As production manager of the Telemicro group, for Leonardo Villalobos it was a commitment to continue working from the studios, as he considers it a sacred commitment.

“Our duty as communicators is to be there, live, the public needed us, they had the same uncertainty as us, but we had and have the responsibility to correctly inform them of the two pandemics, Covid and the disinformation of the networks”, Villalobos argued when talking to LISTÍN DIARIO.

The reality of the contents of the programs with which “El Garaje producciones” works is different. Vivian Fatule says that they accommodated the schemes and took what was necessary to work from home ”with three of the five programs they produce.

For show and television producer Alberto Zayas, during the quarantine process, television as a means of communication became the most credible and trusted medium. “We saw how alternative media such as social networks played a less prominent role, since the people were confined to home, television consumption was massive, achieving enviable rating levels and the production of entertainment had to adapt to being more informative than usual, ”said Zayas.

José Enrique Pintor, connoisseur of television behavior, states that his performance was vital in several aspects: “Entertainment, guidance and information, which vindicates the role of television as the most important means totally and absolutely free and of most consumption to Nacional level. A medium to which all Dominicans resorted, shooting audiences to points rarely reached. ”

CHANGES

Quarantined

“Without scenography, without great effects and lighting, without videos outdoors, without on-site guests, there have been many changes to digest after the habit of seeing their programs at ease and with their usual montages,” Vivian Fatulo said of the productions. Dominican.
