A new record for Messi

“La Pulga” enters a little more in the history of FC Barcelona.

The record holder for La Liga matches played with the FC Barcelona is not Catalan, but Argentinian. Lionel messi lived his 506th appearance with the Blaugranas on Sunday against Cadiz (0-0), overtaking his former teammate Xavi Hernandez (505), Andres Iniesta (442) and Sergio Busquets (399) being far behind in this ranking.

Arrived in Catalonia at the age of 13, the native of Rosario officially made his debut with FCB on October 16, 2004 in a derby against Espanyol. He was then 17 years and 3 months old and is now 33, a few months – however – from a probable departure from the club.

Obviously, Messi is, by far, the best scorer in the history of the club, since he has achieved 655 goals for 16 years and his runner-up, César Rodriguez, the club’s scorer in the 40s and 50s, does not post “That” 232 goals.

On this historic day, the six-time Ballon d’Or opened the scoring from the penalty spot against Camp Nou, but the training of Ronald Koeman, already humiliated by PSG on Tuesday in the Champions League (1-4), followed with a counter -performance in La Liga, Clément Lenglet offering the equalizer penalty to the promoted.
