When a WWE Superstar does something to annoy the company’s top management, it is often reported that they have received “hate backstage” because of their actions.
In 2015, for example, Lana and Rusev ran into trouble after news of their real-life engagement surfaced at a time when the two Superstars were involved in a romantic story with Dolph Ziggler and Summer Rae, respectively, in the WWE programming.
This prompted WWE to eliminate the long angle, with Rusev becoming a member of the League of Nations faction after his on-screen association with Lana came to an end.
Five years after that incident, there appear to have been more reports of hate backstage in 2020 than in any other recent year, despite the fact that we are only halfway through the year.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at seven WWE Superstars who are reportedly struggling in backstage over the past 6 months.
Nia Jax (RAW)
Here’s the spot where Nia Jax injured Kairi Sane. She clearly threw Kairi head first into the steel steps.

Nia Jax has been accused of being an insecure wrestler in the ring for several years, especially in 2018 when she punched Becky Lynch in the face in RAW, causing “The Man” to be dropped from her fight against Ronda Rousey in Survivor. Series.
Earlier this year, Jax returned to action for the first time in 12 months after double-knee surgery, and it didn’t take long for concerns about the safety of his opponents to emerge.
As you can see in the clip above, Kairi Sane suffered a head injury after Jax threw her very hard on the steel stairs.
Bryan Alvarez of The Wrestling Observer reported that someone within WWE told him that the incident was “one thousand percent Nia’s fault” and that “she must be fired.”
This was awful. The fact you could hear Kairi trying to say something and Nia just tossing her carelessly into the bottom turnbuckle. pic.twitter.com/nmbmULsUSl

In the same way, his Buckle Bomb was heavily criticized and the cause of it being banned in recent times.
Angelo Dawkins | Montez Ford (WWE RAW)
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, WWE shows were held without a fan for more than two months between March and May 2020.
The May 25 episode of WWE RAW saw the introduction of “fans” behind the screens at ringside, with WWE Performance Center recruits portraying members of the audience.
PC recruits have adhered to social distancing guidelines by pulling away from their colleagues while watching episodes of RAW, SmackDown, and NXT. However, that did not happen on June 15 when The Street Profits entered the audience to collide the five with the most, as well as some select WWE fans who also attended.
Sportskeeda’s Tom Colohue reported that while Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford have been involved with fans during their inning for years, this particular inning caused some backstage hassle as the RAW tag team champions went against the patterns of social distance.
However, The Street Profits did not appear to suffer any on-screen punishment for their actions, as they withheld their titles against The Viking Raiders a week later on RAW.
Rob Gronkowski (WWE WrestleMania 36 host)
Rob Gronkowski was expected to compete in a fight within WWE, a day after it was announced as the company’s last high-profile firm in March 2020.
The former New England Patriots star appeared sporadically on WWE television before his role as host of WrestleMania 36, where he defeated Mojo Rawley to begin a 57-day reign as the 24/7 Champion.
Since then, it has been learned that Gronkowski caused a two-hour delay in filming for WrestleMania due to his hesitation about jumping off a platform into a group of Superstars. In the end, Vince McMahon had to do the trick himself to show host ‘Mania how it was done.
Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that a big name in the WWE cast told him that Gronkowski was a “screwed up clown we are much better off without.”
Since then, it has been confirmed that Gronkowski has decided to return to the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, ending his short WWE career after just 10 weeks.
His last televised appearance came in June 2020 when he lost the Championship 24/7 to R-Truth in a comedy segment on RAW.
Randy Orton (RAW) | Tommaso Ciampa (NXT)
Randy Orton and Tommaso Ciampa were involved in an exchange of harsh words on the social network Twitter after the WWE NXT TakeOver: In Your House event.
Wrestlers often hit their legs while executing certain moves to make them sound more shocking, but Ciampa’s leg kick in his bout against Karrion Kross in In Your House clearly left Orton less than impressed.
Heard #WWENXT #TakeoverInYourHouse was great! Slappin my leg for you guys. Sincerely #legslap

The former NXT champion replied that his daughter falls asleep after watching Randy Orton fights, sparking speculation that there could be a possible meeting between the two on the horizon.
According to Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer, Vince McMahon “I hate the idea.” Similarly, it was revealed that if there is no middle story, it is forbidden for the superstars to attack each other on social networks.
Álvarez said that McMahon “was not happy” with the recent interaction on Twitter, so it will be interesting to see if a fight between the two men comes to fruition.
For what it’s worth, Orton has said in recent media interviews that he would like to work with Ciampa one day, but he believes the NXT Superstar needs to adopt a safer in-ring style to prolong his career.
Sami Zayn (WWE SmackDown)
SmackDown superstar Sami Zayn was stripped of the Intercontinental Championship in May 2020 after he decided to stop working on WWE shows during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This led to an eight-man tournament on SmackDown to crown a new champion, with AJ Styles defeating Daniel Bryan in the final to win the Intercontinental Championship for the first time in his career.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reported that although no one in WWE will publicly criticize Zayn for not working, there is “a lot of discontent” backstage over his decision.
When it was announced that the Intercontinental Championship would be vacant, many fans pointed out on social media that WWE had taken a different approach with Jordan Devlin’s NXT Cruiserweight Championship.
Devlin, who is in Ireland and cannot travel to the United States, maintained his Cruiserweight Championship while a tournament was held at NXT to crown a new Provisional Cruiserweight Champion.
In contrast, Zayn was simply stripped of his title, which means Styles is the official Intercontinental Champion, not interim.
