AMD is preparing the launch of the Radeon RX 6700 XT, a graphics card of mid-high range that will compete directly with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, and that according to recent information, it could be more powerful than we thought.
First of all, I want to remind you that the Radeon RX 6700 XT will occupy a different range than the Radeon RX 6700, and that we should not confuse them, since the first will be more powerful, and obviously also more expensive. The second will compete with the RTX 3060, and it will fit directly into what we can consider as the mid-range.
The always reliable VideoCardz, has shared new information in which we can see that there will be two versions of the Radeon RX 6700 XT, one with a high overclock and another with lower frequencies that will be equivalent to the reference design. The first will have a 230 watt TGP, and the second will stay in 189 watts. For your reference, the RTX 3060 Ti has a 200 watt TGP.
The model with the highest TGP could go up to 2,600 MHz on the GPU, and its performance will be between 20% and 25% higher than that of a Radeon RX 5700 XT. Personally, and considering that the RX 6800 is, on average, 32% more powerful than the RX 5700 XT, I think that the Radeon RX 6700 XT will most likely end up being 15% to 20% more powerful, on average, than that.
The launch of the Radeon RX 6700 XT is expected on March 18, while the Radeon RX 6700 will be released in April. We do not have a specific date, but in principle it is most likely that it will land during the first half of that month.
Possible specifications of the Radeon RX 6700 XT
Navi 22 XT (RDNA 2)
Computation Units (CUs)
Cores for ray tracing
Up to 2.6 GHz
12 GB GDDR6
The sale price has not yet transcended, but considering the range the Radeon RX 6700 XT is targeting, it should be around between 350 and 400 euros, approximately. For its part, the Radeon RX 6700 will almost certainly position itself in the range of 300 euros.
I remind you that, by rough specifications, The Radeon RX 6700 will be the most GPU-like general consumer graphics card used by PS5, something that I have already mentioned in previous articles. In the table that I leave just below these lines you can see a comparative breakdown with the specifications of the new generation of AMD graphics.
