The ambassador of the interim government of Venezuela to the United Kingdom, Vanessa Neumann, assured that Iran and the terrorist group Hezbollah are recruiting sympathizers. These are present in Venezuelan territory to consolidate their presence in the country and expand to other nations of the continent.
« The Hezbollah general secretary declared that if Tareck el Aissami were the president of Venezuela, it would be good for Hezbollah, » the ambassador said.
Ambassador Neumann’s statements were made in the framework of a virtual conference, a legitimate Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) discussion. The Juan Germán Roscio Center for Legal and Democratic Studies participated in it. Diario Las Américas reported on the meeting. There, it was claimed that the Iranian regime and Hezbollah work « in parallel » to that end and seek « mainly people who hate the United States. »
Rafael Rosell, rector of the Pedro de Valvidia University of Chile, also participated in it, who spoke about the situation in Lebanon and its antecedents in the history of that country.
“There are things that come out of the cultural section of the Iranian embassy. It is something that seems normal, they look for friends, they encourage you to study more about the wonders of Iran’s Farsi language, ”he explained.
Additionally, he said: Hezbollah « approaches » young people « to see if they are interested in fighting. » Some « have been taken to study in Iran and Lebanon » and then « they ask you to join the battlefield. »
Last January, United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo agreed with Colombian President Iván Duque. Both affirmed that the movement of Lebanese origin, the armed wing of the Iranian regime, has cells in Venezuela. They also indicated that their purpose is to expand throughout the region.
Later, in June, the Secretary General of the OAS, Luis Almagro, asserted that Iran has a presence in Venezuela « to finance Hezbollah and other terrorist groups. »
A month later, the head of the United States Southern Command, Admiral Craig Faller, indicated that « monitoring » is being carried out on Maduro and Venezuela’s relations with Hezbollah.
In the incorporation efforts indicated by Ambassador Neumann, Hezbollah would be betting on recruiting “oppressed people. As well as people who have valid complaints at some point and identify them to become their friends «
Maduro and Iran
Neumann also stated that one of Hezbollah’s motivations would be to take over the « management of the government. » This is a situation that generates « some concerns » among the Chavista leadership.
A couple of months ago, the State Department denounced that Maduro allows the operation of terrorist groups in Venezuela. In this way he manages to stay in power.
In a report on terrorism, the United States assured that Chavismo created an environment conducive to joint action by « dissidents from the FARC, the ELN and Hezbollah. »
The document alludes that Maduro, through criminal activities that support his control, is “fostering a permissive environment for known terrorist groups. They include dissidents from the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC); the National Liberation Army (ELN), of Colombian origin; and Hezbollah sympathizers ”.
According to Neumann, « what was a small thing became state policy, with airports, airlines and ports at the service of the FARC, the ELN and Hezbollah. » « Hezbollah has had relations with the FARC for drug trafficking, » the diplomat added.
Likewise, he pointed out that the « terrorist cells » are not in Venezuela to commit terrorist acts, but to « take control, steal the power of the State and to do and undo. »
